Siemens is set to supply three SGT800 gas turbines to the Proton Energy Delta Sunrise project. The turbines will provide a combined electrical capacity of approximately 150MW to the national grid upon completion in 2020, Techpoint.NG reports.
The SGT-800 gas turbine has a proven long term record of successful installations around the world and is an excellent choice for both industrial power generation and oil and gas applications. The turbine meets the sectors requirements for efficiency, reliability and environmental compatibility while offering low lifecycle cost. Mr. Andreas Pistauer, Vice President, Power and Gas, Africa, during his address said Siemens had 150 years of history in Africa and over 50 years in Nigeria and has built a large portion of energy infrastructure on the continent.
He said; “As I speak we are currently building more than 17,000mw in Africa with projects in Nigeria (with Azura), in Sudan and Egypt […] We are proud to be a part of this project, we will train the locals here in-State in our state of the art technology and Nigerians will build, operate and maintain this power plant. We are in Nigeria for Nigerians and we are committed to supporting projects like the Delta Sunrise project and future projects to increase electricity generation and human capital development in Nigeria.”
