Mr Emmanuel Ekon, the Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Local Content, on Wednesday commended Dangote for its huge investment on the refinery and petrochemical plant, adding that the National Assembly would work with Dangote to ensure that local content implementation is deepened, Daily Trust reports.
Ekon gave the commendation during the oversight visit of the committee to Dangote refinery and petrochemicals in Lekki Free Trade Zone in Ibeju Lekki, Lagos. Ekon assured Dangote of lawmakers’ support to indigenous companies, while also promising to create an enabling environment for businesses in Nigeria to thrive. Ekon also said that the National Assembly would provide adequate legislation to deepen the implementation of the local content law in the oil and gas sector.
Mr Babajide Soyode, the Technical Consultant to Alhaji Aliko Dangote, on his own part said that the refinery would save the country over 12 billion dollars annually through import substitution and will add value to the economy as all the projects will be creating about 4,000 direct and 145,000 indirect jobs. Soyode lauded the resolve of the lawmakers towards supporting indigenous companies and added that Dangote was committed to local content development.
