President Buhari ratifies Paris Agreement on Climate Change

President Muhammadu Buhari in his office on Tuesday signed the Instrument of Ratification of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change at the State House Abuja, Vanguard reports.

It would be recalled that President Buhari said he had signed the Paris Agreement on Climate Change during the Taking Climate Action for Sustainable Development in New York, co-hosted by Nigeria and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) as one of the Side Events of the 71st Session of the United Nations General Assembly.

He also promised to ensure the ratification of the Paris Agreement shortly afterwards. The Agreement will enter into force 30 days after 55 countries, representing 55 per cent global emissions, deposit their instruments of ratification, acceptance or accession with the Secretary-General.
