NNPC (1)The operating arm of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, delivered gross production of 191,025 barrels per day, bpd in mid-December 2013, a higher figure than the November 2013 production, which averaged 173,000 bpd.

Africa Oil and Gas Report stated that Nigeria Petroleum Development Company, NPDC, holds equity in 10 producing fields in the western onshore and south eastern offshore parts of the Niger Delta, most of them recent divestments from Shell Nigeria. It maintained that NPDC is operator in seven out of those fields, and its overall net production was 130,319 bpd for the period.

The report stated, “The Company also had a gross production of 598 million cubic feet of gas per day (MMscf/d), of which 123MMscf/d was flared. It’s instructive that the flares happen in none of the fields divested by Shell.

It stated that all the 123MMscf/d of gas flared were in Oredo and Okono fields, which have been held and operated by NPDC, long before it “annexed” equity in the former Shell operated fields.

The report said, “The data shows that the biggest crude oil production in NPDC portfolio come from Okono, which delivered 45,704BOPD and Kokori field, in Oil Mining Lease, OML 30), which produced 44,853BOPD in the same period. It stated, “NPDC’s biggest gas field is Utorogu, in OML 34. It produced 315MMscf/d, all of it delivered to the Escravos Lagos Pipeline System.”

The Nigerian Petroleum Development Company Limited, NPDC, with Head office in Benin City and base offices/warehouses in Port Harcourt and Warri for logistics support was established in 1988 as a wholly owned subsidiary of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, with responsibility for Petroleum Exploration and Production activities.
