NNPC’s IDSL begins offshore seismic data capturing after 30 yrs of operations

The Integrated Data Services Limited (IDSL), the seismic data gathering arm of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) is set to venture into marine or offshore seismic data capturing for the oil industry, Daily Trust reports.

IDSL, whose major work revolves around acquisition, interpretation and storage of seismic data for oil field development is one of the biggest players in the seismic space on land (onshore). But the company said it will commence offshore services, a venture it will be carrying for the time in almost 30 years, since it was established in 1988.

The immediate past Managing Director of the company Mr. Roland Ewubare in an interview in NNPC News, a monthly publication of the corporation, said the company was venturing into the new market because of the restiveness in the Niger Delta which has forced many international oil companies (IOCs) to move their production offshore and deepwater.
