The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has given electricity customers 21 days to react on the recent declaration of eligible customers in the power sector by the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola, Daily Trust reports.

NERC said it has published a consultation paper on its website on the framework for the implementation of the scheme. “The paper has attempted to bring to fore some of the issues that may arise and has indicated the policy direction, consistent with the EPSR Act 2005, towards mitigating the unintended impacts of the declaration of eligibility in the NESI,” it said.

The commission said it was acting in line with the provisions of Section 76(9) of the Electric Power Sector (EPSR) Act of 2005 that directs it to hold consultation on the declaration. It said, “The commission hereby fixes 21 days from the date of publication of this notice for comments, objections and representations from all stakeholders and the general public.”
