Labour shuts down operations at PHED offices

Protesting labour leaders, yesterday, shut down offices of Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company, PHED,  in all its areas of operations in Rivers, Bayelsa , Akwa Ibom and Cross River states, Vanguard reports.

As at 7a.m., the labour leaders, under the aegis of Senior Staff Association of Electricity and Allied Companies, SSAEAC, took over the premises of the Disco on Moscow Road, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Deputy National Secretary  of the union, Mr Oke Nwosu, said the protest was against casualisation and poor service by the distribution company. He said that the protest will continue until the firm heeds their demands, adding that the firm has no condition of service for its workers, as staff are sacked at will.
