Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) has commissioned a 500KVA injection substation at Farawa area in Kano metropolis as part of its efforts to end the estimated billing system within its franchise area, Daily Trust reports.
The company also installed 60 prepaid meters for residents in the area. Commissioning the N12m project, the Managing Director of the company, Dr Jamil Isyaku Gwamna said the effort was in line with the directive of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) for the implementation of metering plans by all DISCOs.
Gwamna also commissioned a state-of-the-art Customer Experience Centre at the premises of Kano East region and a sub-Technical Service Point (sub-TSP) at Farawa Layout to attend to customers’ complaints. Dr Gwamna said the project was undertaken to ensure fairness and transparency in measuring the amount of energy consumed by customers in the area.
