Chevron pledges commitment to CSR program

Against current economic recession and oil price downturn, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Chevron Nigeria Limited (CNL), Clay Neff, has pledged his company’s commitment to improving human capital development in the country through its Global Memorandum of Understanding (GMoU), Vanguard reports.

Speaking through the company’s Director, Deep Water and PSC, Jeff Ewing at the 34th Annual International Conference of the Nigerian Association of Petroleum Exploration (NAPE) in Lagos, Neff disclosed that the new phase of CNL’s GMoU process (GMoU plus) is designed to enhance more of human capital development. This, he said, will gave communities a greater role in managing their development through the regional development councils.

His words: “Chevron takes its role as a corporate citizen in Nigeria seriously and is active in many projects that promote health, education and economic development. Over the 10-plus years of the GMoU, the NNPC/Chevron Joint Venture has spent more than N17 billion on roughly 600 projects and programmes that have provided more than 40,000 scholarships, new schools, housing and medical facilities and supplies.”
