BEDC to partner Canadian firm on power generation for Isoko, Delta state

Talks between Benin Electricity Distribution Plc (BEDC) and a Canadian firm, Thames Vpower over the generation of 20 megawatts of electricity in Isoko area of Delta State have progressed tremendously, indicating that the project may materialize soon, IWIN reports.

Chief State Head of Delta State, Mr. Ernest Edgar dropped the hint as a panelist at the recent Isoko Economic and Investment Summit held in Isoko tagged: Harnessing Isoko Economic Potential and Development for Sustainable Development.

According to him, electricity generated to the national grid had been unstable with only about 4,000MW generated for a population of over 160 million people, stressing that the process of power generation and distribution had become problematic, noting that it was in view of this that BEDC has been holding series of meetings with Thames Vpower group, Isoko leaders and chairmen of the two councils on the possibility of actualizing the project.
