The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has said it will start to enumerate customers in Niger State from February after which it will massively deploy meters in the hydropower generating state, Daily Trust reports.

According to a statement by its spokesman, Ahmed Shekarau yesterday, the DisCo started the pilot scheme of its mass metering project in Tunga, a town in Niger State in December 2015. Reacting to a recent report about the ‘Concerned Citizens of Niger State’ accusing the DisCo of giving poor supply to the Niger, AEDC said it is only entitled to 11.5 per cent of whatever electricity that is available for distribution at the grid.

The DisCo which covers Nasarawa, Niger, Kogi and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) also said it concentrated a larger part of the inadequate electricity to the FCT being the seat of government, having many military formations, airports, hospitals among others.
